Coffee

The best way to store your coffee is in a cool, dark place, right inside your bag – they’ve been carefully designed to keep your coffee at its best!

For more information on the dos and don’ts of storing coffee, read this article.

Direct trade aims to make the coffee industry more fair and sustainable by creating direct, long-term relationships between farmers and roasters, ensuring fair pay, high quality, and transparency in coffee production.

Some key points about direct trade:

  1. Fairer Pay for Farmers: Farmers often earn more through direct trade because they don't have to share profits with intermediaries. This can make a big difference in their income and ability to invest in their farms.
  2. Transparency: Direct trade promotes openness about how coffee is grown and processed. This transparency helps build trust and ensures that both sides know exactly what they're getting.
  3. Focus on Quality: Roasters and farmers work closely together to ensure the coffee is top-notch. Most roasters are usually willing to pay extra for higher quality, which encourages farmers to keep improving their crops.

Basically, direct trade in coffee is all about roasters building direct relationships with coffee farmers or cooperatives, cutting out the middlemen like importers and exporters. This approach allows them to negotiate prices, quality standards, and other terms directly.

Pour-over methods, such as the Hario V60, Kalita Wave, or Chemex brewers, we recommend a medium-fine grind that will yield a brew time of between 3-4 minutes.
Immersion brew methods, such as a French press or Clever brewer, start with a grind that’s just a touch coarser than what you would use for a pour-over.
For an Aeropress, use a grind that’s a little finer than a pour-over grind.
For espresso, you’ll need to grind very fine

Coffee gets state and loosses freshness when exposed to air.

Once opened, we recommend consuming coffee within 6 weeks of opening the bag, or within 2 months for whole beans.
